Grand Canyon Village and the South Rim
The South Rim is the most popular Grand Canyon destination because of the easy accessibility and the towns and services nearby. The South Rim is located Sixty miles north of Williams, Arizona and Eighty miles Northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona.
There are a few different ways to get to Grand Canyon Village, you can drive to Grand Canyon Village and there is parking available in the area. You may also take the train from Williams, Arizona to Grand Canyon Village or van service may be provided from Flagstaff or Williams to the village.
Grand Canyon Village
After you arrive in Grand Canyon Village you will find plenty of services and information to familiarize yourself with the South Rim. An excellent place to start is the Grand Canyon Visitor Center located a few miles north of the south entrance and twenty six miles west of the east entrance.
If you drive to the Visitor Center you will have plenty of places to park. Rangers are available to answer your questions about Grand Canyon Village and the South Rim. You can also ride on one of the free shuttle buses to travel to other areas of the South Rim. Finally, the Grand Canyon Visitor Center provides Restrooms and a gift store for those of you looking to pick up a souvenir during your visit to the Grand Canyon.
Grand Canyon Activities
There are many activities available at the Grand Canyon South Rim. Many of these activities are free and sponsored by the National Park Service. There are many Park Rangers in the area that lead nature walks and educational seminars throughout the Grand Canyon National Park system.
