There are excellent lodges and hotels within the Grand Canyon South Rim Park. All of the lodging listed below is inside the South Rim.
The Yavapai Lodge
The Yavapai Lodge
The Yavapai Lodge is located approximately one-half mile from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and is one of the largest lodges in the Grand Canyon National Park. With over 350 rooms between the East and West sections the Yavapai Lodge is an ideal place to bring a family or a large group of people traveling together. Rooms in Yavapai East offer air conditioning, a refrigerator and coffee. The rooms in Yavapai West do not have air conditioning but do have ceiling fans.
Conveniently located, the Yavapai Lodge is next to Market Plaza which has a general store, bank and post office. In addition the National Park Service Visitor Center is within walking distance of the lodge located one-half mile away. The Yavapai Lodge also has a Café that is open for all three meals and all rooms have television and a telephone.
The Bright Angle Lodge
The Bright Angle Lodge
The rustic Bright Angle Lodge and Cabins offers standard lodge rooms, historic cabins, suites and Rim Cabins with a fireplace. The lodge has a family restaurant that is open for all three meals and features the “Arizona Room” that is open for lunch and dinner that offers Southwestern Cuisine. The lodge also offers services such as transportation, tours and activities. There is a history room, a gift shop and a lounge to relax after a long day on the South Rim.
The El Tovar Hotel
The El Tovar Hotel
The El Tovar Hotel is located on the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and has seventy eight rooms and suites available. The rooms all have common amenities such as cable television, full baths and air conditioning with standard or deluxe rooms of one bedroom suites available. There is also free parking available at the El Tovar Hotel and it is recommended that you make your reservations well in advance.
The Kachina Lodge
The Kachina Lodge
The Kachina Lodge is located between the Bright Angle Lodge and the El Tovar hotel. Like the El Tovar Hotel the Kachina Lodge is located on the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and many of the rooms have a partial view to the Grand Canyon. The rooms have many amenities such as a refrigerator, television a full bath and coffee.
The Thunderbird Lodge
The Thunderbird Lodge
The Thunderbird Lodge is also located between the El Tovar hotel and the Bright Angel Lodge. The location on the South Rim of the Thunderbird allows partial views of the Grand Canyon in half of the rooms available. There are rooms available that are designed for guests that are physically challenged, please provide this information when making your reservation. The rooms at the Thunderbird Lodge also contain the common amenities of a refrigerator, safe, coffee a television and a full bath.
The Maswik Lodge
The Maswik Lodge
The Maswik Lodge is located less than a quarter mile from the Grand Canyon South Rim. The location is ideally placed in a pine forest with a modern style surrounded by natural beaulty. The lodge has a cafeteria, a sports bar and a gift store. There are two areas of rooms. The south rooms at Kaswik are motel style rooms with queen beds, television and a full bath. The rooms in the north section are larger and offer more amenities such as a refrigerator, in-room-coffee, a safe, cable television and more.
The Phantom Ranch
The Phantom Ranch
The Phantom Ranch is located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and it is the only lodging placed below the Grand Canyon Rim. This Ranch can only be accessed by foot, mule or via Rafting on the Colorado River. The Ranch is frequently a stopping point for hikers in the area and is open year round. Lodging at the Phantom Ranch is in rustic cabins furnished with bunk beds. There is also a dormitory available that are separated for men and women. The dormitories consist of 10 bunk beds each and a restroom and shower. If your planning on going to the Phantom Ranch, make sure and get your reservation far in advance as this limited space is usually booked. On the website they suggest up to 13 months in advance.
