The Grand Canyon is one of Arizona’s most dramatic and identifiable landmarks. The Grand Canyon is over one mile deep and is approximately 280 miles in length. The walls of the Grand Canyon vary in width along the 280 mile corridor between 4 miles and up to 20 miles wide. Native Americans were the original inhabitants of areas in and around the Grand Canyon and some of these Native Tribes occupy reservations in the area today.
